After the service I caught the tail end of the department's happy hour. It was our week to host it. On Thursday Mike and I went to Costco and bought lots of chips, breads, hummus, cheese and bruschetta. Patrick called a few places about wings. I kept telling them we needed more food but never having thrown big parties they thought that ridiculous. For some reason the attendance was very small. Still they ran out of food before most people arrived.
Friday evening I went to GPSCY with Liz to grab a drink before we went to an undergrad college to hear one of her friends playing in the group Low Strung. Low Strung is a group of cellos that play arraignments of rock and pop songs. We heard everything from U2, and Britney Spears, to Journey and Metallica. They were really good and the concert was quite enjoyable.
Today, I drove back up to West Hartford to pick up my running shoes. Last time I needed new shoes I went to fleet feet. Nike discontinued the shoes that worked for me so I needed to be fitted with a new pair. This time I wanted the same shoe. I could have ordered it online but I wanted to support the same store that sat down with me for 30 mins last time. Unfortunately this time they said they did not carry my size. They ordered them for me and I got to make an extra trip. All that to say, I have new shoes now.
Tonight at 11pm we have the Easter Vigil. I really enjoy this service. It will last close to 1am and then we get to celebrate the night through.
Diet News:
Today is the last day! Rice, beans and cornbread. Tomorrow I will eat normal food again. I hope that I will maintain healthy portion sizes. I will write up some concluding thoughts either tomorrow or sometime next week.
