Spring is here in New Haven. Flowers in bloom are attracting insects. Stray ants are crawling on my leg. I am sitting outside in Old Campus waiting for choir to start. I could just stay outside. The sun is shining. This weekend featured primary colors. The sky vivid blue and the flowers yellow and red. It could have been a claritin comercial.
It rained Thursday removing the pollen which has since reappeared. Friday evening after the departmental happy hour I went downtown and caught the Band's spring concert. I am not a huge band fan: the music too stiff and metronomic for my tastes. But my friend Brede, a senior, invited me. It was pleasant enough. My favorite piece included members of the band chanting and singing.
Later at GPSCY Abhi, Eva, and the rest talked me into singing myself into complete embarrassment. I butchered 'Best of You' by the Foo Fighters. One whiskey later I redeemed myself by joining Mazin, Adam, and Abhi in heart wrenching and ear splitting rendition of Celine Dion's 'My Heart Will Go On.' Fortunately before the crowd could properly riot Bebiana and I ducked out and headed down the alley to the Cabaret.

I have never been disappointed at the Cabaret. This show was no exception: Salome, or rather, 'an adaptation of and adaptation of an adaptation' of Salome. I still have not had the time to digest and deconstruct everything that was said and done, but the talent was great, the laughter fun, and the dancing worthy of half the kingdom.
Yesterday was spent in lab. But today I slipped out for a run: up the street and over to the lake, up and around to the park, to the top of Eastrock and back down, over to Suicide Hill, (Canner St.) and back home again. All in all I think it was seven miles. From the top I could look down and see a bike race that lapped the park skirting the rock. When I ran back down I ran right through it. It was a northeast regional collegiate biking race.
Post Diet Week One:
I think my stomach has been stretched out again. The first few meals, no matter how little I thought I was eating seemed to make me super full. Most of the week I ate turkey burritos with rice, corn and salsa. Breakfast was two-egg omelets with mushrooms, tomatoes cheese and corn with a delicious side of orange juice. I spent around 40 dollars at the grocery on Monday. I need to go back (unless I want to eat left-over beans). So it does cost more to eat with flavor.
