The humidity wave ended. The house, still 82 degrees when I came home felt fantastic. And now it is cooling off. the last few nights the temperature didn't drop making sleeping a sweaty affair.
At 7:30 I dropped my bag, changed into my running shorts and ran back out. I met Mike and Adam at Orange and Whitney and we headed up to East Rock Park. Its a five mile run up to the top and back. The woods, thick and green, were already quite shaded in the evening sun. But as we reached the top and turned with the road to the edge of the cliff we stepped out into bright golden sunlight streaming across the valley as the sun hovered just above West Rock.
The air, hazy and thick in the morning, cleared as the humidity dropped. Looking west and south we could see far and with great detail. At the top of the valley steeples, stereotypically poked out of the green next to the lakes dark and sparkling. Yale, in the middle, filled with its replica stone towers and halls glinted. Even the city looked beautiful spilling into the sound to the south. And While usually just a smudge across the sound today we could see houses on long island.
The run back down was easier though I still lagged behind. Adam and Mike both run often and well.
