Last weekend Ahbi, Eva, Geraldine and I went to the beach. Hammonasset is no South Carolina beach but the water is salty and the sun still burns. After lying on the gravely sand we worked up an appetite building a castle and tossing the Frisbee.
After we packed our bags we stopped by the grocery, bought cheese, bread and beer, crossed the street, and sat down at The Place. We had roast clams, lobster, shrimp, mussels, blue fish and some cake for desert. Its quite hard to top The Place. Where else can you bring your own sides and beer?.... Home.
This Saturday after swimming and castleing we came back home and cooked up sausages and clams in the back yard. We even made the "Clams Special" just like The Place. Toss them on the grill, let them open, split them, add cocktail sauce, put back on grill and enjoy. I almost like them better plain. Its like eating the ocean one salty bite at a time.

Sounds like a nice time! I actually went to my first clam bake this year--our host was from Maryland and told us he was going to teach his southern friends how to do a real clam bake--and I must say, it was delicious.
